DRDO Bengaluru Bomb Threat Turns Hoax
A bomb threat email sent to a DRDO facility in Bengaluru triggered a major security response before police declared it a hoax after a full search of the premises. The alert briefly raised concerns over security at a sensitive defence installation, but no explosives were found and an investigation is now underway into the source of the email.
DRDO Bengaluru Bomb Threat Email
The threat was received by officials at the Gas Turbine Research Establishment, a DRDO lab in Bengaluru, around midday. The email claimed that multiple improvised explosive devices had been planted inside the premises, prompting authorities to immediately alert the police and activate security protocols. Search teams, including bomb disposal personnel, were deployed to examine the facility.
GTRE Search Operation Finds No Explosives
After a detailed inspection of the campus, police confirmed that the threat was false and that no explosive material had been found. The incident nevertheless caused a serious security scare because the target was a key defence research unit. Officials treated the threat as credible until the premises had been fully checked and cleared.
Police Probe Hoax Threat Email
A case has been registered based on a complaint and investigators are now working to trace the sender of the email. Reports said the message was written in Tamil, and some versions of the threat also included references beyond the DRDO premises. The case adds to a recent pattern of hoax bomb threats sent to institutions in different parts of India, forcing repeated evacuations and security checks.
