Dravid Steps Down as Rajasthan Royals Head Coach

Rahul Dravid has stepped down as head coach of the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2026 IPL season. His second stint with the franchise began in 2024. Although he was offered a broader strategic role as part of a structural reshuffle, Dravid declined and chose to part ways.

Long-Standing Association

Dravid’s bond with the Royals stretches back more than a decade. He first joined the team as a player in 2011, later serving as captain, mentor, and eventually head coach. The franchise credited him with shaping its culture, mentoring younger cricketers, and leaving a lasting legacy.

2025 Season Performance

The Royals endured a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign under Dravid, securing only four wins in 14 league matches and finishing ninth. The poor performance prompted the management to initiate a review, which ultimately coincided with Dravid’s decision to step aside.
