Dozens Killed in Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Clash

Heavy clashes erupted along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border on Wednesday, marking the deadliest confrontation between the two sides in years. Fighting broke out in areas around Chaman and Spin Boldak, with both countries accusing each other of initiating the attack.

Conflicting Casualty Claims

The Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for killing 58 Pakistani soldiers, destroying an outpost, and capturing a tank.
Pakistan, however, reported the loss of 23 soldiers and asserted that its forces killed more than 200 Taliban fighters in retaliation.
Afghanistan further reported that 12 civilians died and over 100 were injured in strikes near Spin Boldak.

Escalation and Border Closure

Following the clashes, Pakistan shut multiple border crossings, halting trade and civilian movement. The governments have exchanged sharp accusations: Pakistan alleges that Afghanistan shelters militants targeting its territory, while Kabul insists its actions were in response to unprovoked Pakistani fire.

Drone Attack Footage

Taliban sources released drone footage showing bombs dropped on what they described as a Pakistani border post, suggesting the use of drones in the conflict and raising concerns of further escalation.
