DMK Rejects Congress Power-Sharing Demand in Tamil Nadu

The DMK has rejected the Congress party’s proposal for sharing power in the Tamil Nadu government, with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin making it clear that there will be no coalition administration in the state. Senior DMK leaders said the party is firm on retaining full control of governance.

CM Firm on Stand

Responding to Congress leaders seeking a stake in the government, the DMK leadership said the mandate in Tamil Nadu was for single-party rule. Party leaders reiterated that alliances are meant for electoral cooperation and do not automatically translate into power-sharing arrangements after elections.

Alliance Talks Continue

While the DMK has ruled out sharing power, alliance discussions with the Congress are expected to continue in the context of seat-sharing for the upcoming Assembly elections. Congress leaders have maintained that their party’s contribution to the alliance warrants a greater role, though no agreement has been reached.

Election Context

Tamil Nadu is set to go to the polls in 2026, and alliance dynamics are becoming increasingly prominent. The DMK’s clear position signals its intent to project stability and continuity in governance as it prepares for the election battle.
