DK Shivakumar Defends Bengaluru After BlackBuck Exit
Rajesh Yabaji, co-founder and CEO of logistics tech firm BlackBuck, announced that the company will shift its office from Bellandur on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road. He cited poor road conditions and long commute times—sometimes up to 1.5 hours one way—as the main reasons behind the move.
Shivakumar’s Response
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar defended Bengaluru’s reputation as India’s leading technology hub. He said that despite the infrastructure concerns, no other city in the country can match Bengaluru’s ecosystem and opportunities for innovation.
Infrastructure Concerns Raised
The relocation has highlighted civic issues in Bellandur and along the ORR. Frequent traffic jams, damaged roads, and delays in repairs have been long-standing complaints from both residents and businesses. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai also criticised the government, saying it was failing to address basic urban problems.
Action Promised
Shivakumar said that contractors have been assigned strict deadlines to complete road repairs and improve commuting conditions. He assured that funds will be allocated to ensure smoother infrastructure upgrades. He also urged companies to remain in Bengaluru, stating the city offers unmatched opportunities despite challenges.
