Dhankhar’s Makes First Public Appearance Since Resignation

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attended the swearing-in ceremony of his successor, C. P. Radhakrishnan, on 12 September 2025. This was his first public appearance since resigning on 21 July, citing health reasons. He was seated alongside other former Vice Presidents at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Presence at the Ceremony

Dhankhar arrived with his wife and took his place next to M. Venkaiah Naidu and Hamid Ansari. He greeted MPs, exchanged pleasantries, and remained for tea after the formal event. Observers noted that he appeared composed and there was no sense of awkwardness in his interactions.

Context of His Resignation

Dhankhar stepped down from the Vice President’s post more than two years before the end of his term. His resignation on health grounds led to speculation about his condition and whereabouts. Reports suggested he spent time at a farmhouse in Chhatarpur, South Delhi, during this period of absence from public view.
