DGCA Panel Submits Report on IndiGo Disruptions
A special committee appointed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has submitted its report on the recent flight disruptions faced by IndiGo Airlines. The panel, constituted earlier this month, handed over its findings to the aviation regulator after completing its investigation into the large-scale delays and cancellations that affected thousands of passengers.
Officials said the report has been submitted within the stipulated timeline and is currently under examination by the DGCA. The contents of the report have not been made public.
Focus of the Investigation
The committee was tasked with examining operational and administrative issues that led to the disruptions. Its mandate included reviewing crew scheduling, availability of trained personnel, adherence to flight duty time limitations, and overall operational preparedness. The probe also looked into whether lapses in planning or execution contributed to the disruptions across IndiGo’s network.
The disruptions had triggered regulatory scrutiny as IndiGo is India’s largest airline by market share, and the scale of cancellations and delays raised concerns about passenger safety and service reliability.
Regulatory Action Possible
The DGCA is expected to study the findings and decide on further action, which could include directives to the airline to strengthen operational systems or regulatory measures to prevent a recurrence. Officials indicated that any steps taken would focus on improving compliance and ensuring smoother airline operations.
The aviation regulator has reiterated that passenger interest and operational safety remain its top priorities.
