Delhi Police Notice To DK Shivakumar
Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing issued a notice to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in connection with the National Herald case. The notice sought details of financial transactions linked to Young Indian. It asked Shivakumar to either appear before investigators or submit the documents by December 19. The notice was dated November 29.
Shivakumar Calls It “Very Shocking”
Reacting to the development, Shivakumar called the notice “very shocking” and described it as unnecessary harassment. He said that he and his brother had already provided documents and full cooperation during earlier investigations led by the Enforcement Directorate. Shivakumar pointed out that a chargesheet had already been filed and questioned why another round of questioning or documentation was required. He said he would challenge the notice in court.
Political Targeting Alleged
Shivakumar suggested that the move was politically motivated, aimed at targeting Congress leaders associated with the National Herald matter. He claimed that all donations made to Young Indian were from legitimate income and there was nothing improper in the transactions. He said his contributions were transparent and accounted for.
Case Continues To Draw Attention
The National Herald case revolves around allegations that assets belonging to Associated Journals Limited were transferred improperly to Young Indian. The case has involved several senior Congress figures and continues to remain under legal and political scrutiny. The latest notice is expected to keep the issue in public focus.
