Delhi Metro Expansion To Ease Women’s Travel

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the expansion of the Delhi Metro network will make daily commuting safer and easier for women, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new metro corridors and laid the foundation stone for three more projects in the national capital.

Delhi Metro Expansion For Women’s Safety

Speaking at the event, Rekha Gupta said the new metro links would improve travel for lakhs of commuters across Delhi, with a special benefit for women and first-time metro users in several outer and northeast areas. She said neighbourhoods such as Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Karawal Nagar will receive Metro connectivity for the first time, improving access to work, education and public services.

New Delhi Metro Corridors Inaugurated

The Prime Minister inaugurated two new corridors as part of Delhi Metro expansion and also launched the next phase of construction through the foundation stone for three additional routes. The newly opened sections include the Majlis Park to Maujpur Babarpur corridor of about 12.3 km and the Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park corridor of around 9.9 km. These projects are expected to strengthen connectivity in densely populated parts of the city and reduce travel time for daily passengers.

Delhi Connectivity Projects Gain Pace

Gupta said the metro expansion is part of a wider push to improve urban infrastructure in Delhi. She linked the new corridors to broader efforts to modernise transport and make public services more accessible. She also highlighted that more areas in outer Delhi are now being brought into the mass transit network, which is expected to ease congestion on roads and offer a more reliable commuting option for residents.
