Delhi Heatwave Alert Issued From Wednesday
Delhi is set to face a fresh spell of intense heat this week, with the India Meteorological Department warning of heatwave conditions from Wednesday, April 22, to Friday, April 24. The capital has already started heating up after a brief phase of relief, with temperatures moving back above normal levels and dry conditions returning.
Delhi Heatwave Alert From Wednesday
The latest forecast shows heatwave conditions are likely to develop across Delhi from midweek as daytime temperatures rise further. The mercury may climb to around 43 degrees Celsius later in the week, making this one of the hottest spells of the season so far in the capital. The alert period runs from April 22 to April 24, with temperatures expected to stay significantly above normal.
IMD Forecast Signals Sharp Rise In Temperature
Weather officials have indicated that Delhi will see above-normal daytime temperatures along with rising discomfort during afternoon hours. The conditions are expected to pose greater health risks for infants, elderly residents and people with pre-existing illnesses. Prolonged exposure to heat may increase the chances of dehydration, exhaustion and other heat-related problems during the alert period.
Delhi Weather Likely To Turn Harsher This Week
The expected temperature surge comes as several parts of north and central India are also seeing unusually hot April weather. In Delhi, the return of dry heat is likely to make outdoor activity more difficult over the next few days. Residents are expected to experience a more severe weather phase after the short-lived relief seen earlier this month.
