Delhi Court Denies Bail to Luthra Brothers in Goa Fire Case
A Delhi court has denied transit anticipatory bail to Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, owners linked to the Goa nightclub fire at Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora, which killed 25 people on December 6. The brothers had sought temporary protection from arrest while they were abroad.
Detained in Thailand, Deportation Expected
The Luthra brothers were detained in Thailand after Indian authorities suspended their passports. Police teams are coordinating with Thai officials to bring them back to India, where they are expected to be taken into custody once they land.
Serious Charges Filed
Goa Police have registered cases including culpable homicide against the owners and management of the nightclub. The fire, which broke out during peak hours, led to significant casualties among staff and visitors, prompting a large-scale investigation into safety lapses and alleged negligence.
Court Notes Attempt to Evade Arrest
During the hearing, police argued that the brothers had booked tickets to Thailand soon after the incident, suggesting an attempt to avoid investigation. The court accepted this reasoning and refused to grant them bail.
Investigation Continues
Police have already arrested another co-owner in the case, and further questioning of all involved parties is expected as the investigation into the causes and responsibility for the fire continues.
