Delhi Car Blast: Amit Shah Vows Full Wrath
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday ordered a manhunt for “each and every culprit” behind Monday’s car explosion near the Red Fort metro station. He stated that those responsible will face the full force of investigative agencies.
Blast Details
The blast occurred in a stationary white Hyundai i20 near Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in the Old Delhi area. Initial reports indicate at least nine people were killed and around 20 others injured, with multiple nearby vehicles damaged in the fire that followed the explosion. Authorities have invoked anti-terror provisions under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and assigned the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to lead the investigation.
Response & Investigation
Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review at Kartavya Bhavan, attended by senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Delhi Police and NIA. He emphasised that all leads, including CCTV footage and forensic clues, will be thoroughly pursued. The government has raised security alerts in metropolitan transport and tourist zones across Delhi. While a terrorism link is suspected, officials say the motive is still under investigation and no group has yet claimed responsibility.
