Delhi Blast Case: Dr. Umar un Nabi Identified as Key Accused

A DNA test has confirmed that Dr. Umar un Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama district in Jammu & Kashmir, was the driver of the car that exploded near Red Fort on 10 November 2025. His family’s DNA was matched to remains retrieved from the Hyundai i20 involved in the blast. The explosion killed at least 13 people and injured several others.

Terror Module and Radicalisation

Investigators say a terror module involving multiple doctors has been unearthed, with Dr. Umar described as the most ideologically extreme member. He appears in video footage where he discusses suicide bombings as “martyrdom operations”. The medical professionals in the network allegedly procured explosives and made preparations for coordinated attacks. A large cache of nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium-nitrate-based materials had earlier been recovered in Faridabad as part of the same probe.

Next Steps and Security Implications

The case has triggered multiple state and federal investigations. Agencies are tracing funding, radicalisation channels, cross-border contacts and the role of institutions used as cover. The use of a doctor as the principal attacker has raised concerns about the targeted radicalisation of educated professionals in terror networks. Authorities continue to search for other suspects and assess wider links to banned organisations.
