Delhi Assembly Gets Bomb Threat Before Budget
The Delhi Legislative Assembly received bomb threat emails on Tuesday morning just hours before the city budget was scheduled to be presented, prompting an immediate security response at the complex and nearby areas. The threat also mentioned Vidhan Sabha Metro Station and several senior political leaders, leading authorities to tighten security while verifying the credibility of the messages.
Delhi Assembly Receives Bomb Threat Emails
Officials said one threatening email was sent to the Assembly around 7:28 am, while another reached Speaker Vijender Gupta’s official email at 7:49 am. The incident triggered alarm because it came on an important political day, with the Delhi Budget set to be tabled in the House. The threat message reportedly warned of a possible blast inside the Assembly premises.
Vidhan Sabha Metro Station And Leaders Named
The email did not stop at the Assembly complex. It also mentioned Vidhan Sabha Metro Station as a possible target and reportedly named several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. The message also referred to a Khalistan referendum and used provocative language.
Security Tightened Across Delhi
Police, bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed at the Assembly premises and adjoining areas soon after the threat was received. Security agencies launched an investigation to trace the source of the emails and assess whether the warning was credible. Officials also tightened security at key locations in Delhi as a precaution while the verification process continued.
