Deepak Yadav Sent to 14-Day Custody in Daughter’s Murder
Deepak Yadav, father of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav, has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody following his arrest for allegedly shooting her at their Gurugram residence. The court order came after police presented him before a local judge, seeking time to complete the investigation.
Not a Case of Social Media Dispute
Initial reports suggesting that Radhika’s Instagram posts triggered the murder have now been dismissed by police. The motive, according to investigators, appears to be rooted in a family dispute over her growing independence and her tennis coaching activity. Police clarified that Radhika had been booking courts to train young players but did not operate a formal tennis academy.
A Conflict Over Control
Radhika’s family dynamics reportedly played a key role in the events leading up to her death. Her father is said to have been uncomfortable with her financial independence and decision-making autonomy. According to close acquaintances, he felt humiliated by taunts that suggested he relied on his daughter for financial support.
Details of the Crime
Radhika was shot five times, with four bullets striking her. The incident occurred at their Sector 57 home in Gurugram. An FIR was registered by her uncle, who also assisted police in detaining Deepak Yadav after the incident. Investigators are now examining forensic evidence, including ballistic reports, to build their case.
No Other Suspects Involved
Police have ruled out the involvement of Radhika’s mother or any other external individuals. So far, the investigation is focused solely on Deepak Yadav. The accused has not contested the custody ruling and remains in judicial detention while police prepare formal charges.
