Cummins Says SRH Had Few Options Against Sooryavanshi

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins admitted that his side struggled to find answers against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the Rajasthan Royals opener produced a blistering 97 off 29 balls in the IPL 2026 Eliminator.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Powers Rajasthan Royals

Sooryavanshi’s explosive innings helped Rajasthan Royals post 243 for 8 in the knockout match. The young left-hander attacked from the start and put SRH’s bowling plans under immediate pressure.

Cummins said bowlers did not feel they had many options against Sooryavanshi because of the batter’s range and clean hitting. The RR opener narrowly missed a century but gave his team a match-defining advantage with one of the most aggressive innings of the season.

SRH Knocked Out Of IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad were unable to recover from Rajasthan’s massive total and were restricted to 196. Jofra Archer played a key role with the ball, striking early and stopping SRH from building the kind of momentum needed in a high chase.

The 47-run defeat ended SRH’s IPL 2026 campaign. Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, advanced to Qualifier 2, keeping their hopes of reaching the final alive.

Cummins Reflects On Bowling Challenge

Cummins said SRH tried different options, but Sooryavanshi’s attacking approach made execution difficult. Full-length deliveries carried risk, shorter balls were punished, and the margin for error became very small.

The innings further strengthened Sooryavanshi’s growing reputation as one of the standout performers of IPL 2026. His ability to dominate experienced international bowlers in a playoff match became the defining story of the Eliminator.
