Congress Told To Vacate Akbar Road Office
Congress has been asked to vacate its long-time party office at 24, Akbar Road in New Delhi by Saturday, according to party sources, setting the stage for a possible political confrontation. The premises served as the party’s headquarters for 48 years and remain closely associated with its political history. The notice is likely to become a flashpoint between the ruling establishment and the opposition.
Congress Also Told To Vacate Youth Congress Office
The party has also reportedly been asked to vacate the Indian Youth Congress office at 5, Raisina Road. Congress sources said the party is considering legal options in response to the move. That suggests the matter may not end with the current deadline and could soon shift into a legal and political battle.
Akbar Road Office Holds Strong Congress Legacy
The Akbar Road bungalow has long been more than just an office for the Congress. It was the centre of party activity through major political eras, including the leadership periods of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P V Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh. Even when the new headquarters was inaugurated, several senior leaders had spoken about their emotional connection to the old office, reflecting its historic value within the party.
