Congress Reaffirms Support for Armed Forces Post Operation Sindoor

Following India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, the Indian National Congress has come forward in strong support of the armed forces and national security objectives. The operation, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives, has drawn praise from across the political spectrum.

“Standing firmly with our armed forces,” declared senior Congress leaders in a unified message of national solidarity. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized that national unity is paramount, stating that the Indian National Congress has always placed the country above politics and continues to do so in the face of such provocations.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh reinforced the sentiment by asserting that India’s efforts to root out terrorism in Pakistan and PoK must be uncompromising and rooted in supreme national interest. He noted that the Congress has consistently supported a strong and resolute response since the Pahalgam attack, and would continue to back every action taken in the defense of Indian lives and sovereignty.

Operation Sindoor: Retaliatory Strikes with Strategic Precision

Operation Sindoor was executed in the early hours of May 7, targeting nine known terror facilities in regions like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli. These locations are linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, long held responsible for cross-border terror operations against India.

The Ministry of Defence clarified that the operation was designed to be focused, measured, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military targets were engaged, underscoring India’s intention to dismantle terror infrastructure without triggering broader conflict.

International Concern and Domestic Consensus

As expected, the strikes led to heightened tension with Pakistan, which issued threats of retaliation. In the midst of this volatile backdrop, India has continued its outreach to global partners to explain the scope and intent of the operation.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi added his voice to the message of unity by expressing pride in the armed forces and their precise execution of the mission. His brief message, “Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!” was widely shared across platforms.
