Congress MP Warns of Crisis in Tamil Nadu Unit
A senior Congress Member of Parliament from Tamil Nadu has issued a strong warning about the state of the party’s organisation, saying it is moving on a “path of destruction” due to persistent internal conflicts. S Jothimani, who represents Karur in the Lok Sabha, made the remarks while highlighting serious factionalism within the Tamil Nadu unit of the Congress.
Concerns Over Organisation and Discipline
Jothimani stated that internal disputes have reached a level where routine organisational tasks are being disrupted. She pointed out that infighting and personal rivalries are weakening the party’s structure and eroding its ability to function effectively at the grassroots level. According to her, several party workers feel sidelined, while internal power struggles are taking precedence over public service and electoral preparedness.
Impact Ahead of State Elections
The comments come at a sensitive time as the Congress prepares for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as part of a broader alliance. Jothimani cautioned that unless corrective steps are taken urgently, the party risks losing credibility among both workers and voters. She urged the leadership to focus on discipline, internal democracy, and clarity in decision-making to prevent further damage.
The public expression of dissent has once again drawn attention to long-standing tensions within the Tamil Nadu Congress and raised questions about its readiness for the upcoming electoral battle.
