CM Fadnavis Inaugurates Solar Industries’ Drone Manufacturing Facility in Nagpur

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a state-of-the-art drone manufacturing facility at Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), a subsidiary of Solar Industries, in Nagpur. This facility is dedicated to producing indigenous drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), loitering munitions, and counter-drone systems, marking a significant advancement in India’s defense manufacturing capabilities.

The facility aims to produce up to 1,000 loiter munitions annually, with advanced testing infrastructure, including a 1.25 km runway for Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs, nearing completion. This initiative aligns with the ‘Atma-nirbharta’ (self-reliance) mission in defense, enhancing India’s capacity to develop and deploy advanced drone technologies for both civil and military applications.

The inauguration underscores Nagpur’s emerging role as a hub for defense technology innovation, contributing to the region’s economic growth and technological advancement. The facility’s focus on weaponized drones and related technologies positions it at the forefront of addressing modern security challenges, both domestically and globally.
