CM Chandrababu Naidu Revives ‘Dream Project’ of Amaravati Capital
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has restarted the long-stalled works of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) project in Amaravati, resuming progress on his “dream project.”
The works in Rayapudi village within the capital region had been on hold for five years after the previous YSRCP government, led by former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, shifted focus away from Amaravati.
Amaravati Project Re-Launched After Years of Delay
The CRDA project, initially launched during Naidu’s earlier tenure from 2014 to 2019, includes the construction of a seven-storey project office building at a cost of ₹160 crore. However, development efforts were halted between 2019 and 2024 as the YSRCP administration promoted the idea of developing three capital cities for the state, leaving Amaravati’s progress stalled.
With Naidu’s return to power following the 2024 elections, the Amaravati capital project has been revived, marking a significant step toward realizing Naidu’s original vision for the state’s capital. On October 16, a CRDA authority meeting confirmed the decision to resume work, according to an official statement.
Amaravati Receives Fresh Momentum Under Naidu’s Leadership
Naidu’s push to restart the development of Amaravati is seen as a critical move to restore the capital project’s momentum after years of inactivity. His return to leadership has breathed new life into the initiative, reaffirming his commitment to building Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The re-launch of the project signals a major shift in the state’s capital development strategy, with a renewed focus on completing Amaravati as envisioned during Naidu’s first tenure.
