Chinnaswamy Stadium Gets IPL 2026 Approval
The Karnataka government gave the go-ahead after a meeting led by Home Minister G. Parameshwara with the state-appointed expert committee, along with representatives from the Karnataka State Cricket Association, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and event managers. The committee reviewed safety, security and operational arrangements at the stadium before recommending approval. The decision clears the way for Bengaluru to remain one of the key venues for the upcoming season.
RCB To Begin IPL 2026 Campaign In Bengaluru
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru are scheduled to open IPL 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The venue is also set to host the RCB Unboxing event and the opening ceremony of the tournament. The confirmation of these events gives Bengaluru a major role in the early phase of the season and restores certainty for organisers, players and fans.
RCB Home Match Plan For IPL 2026
RCB will play seven home matches in IPL 2026, with five of them scheduled in Bengaluru. The remaining two home fixtures will be held at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur. The split arrangement had already been announced earlier, but the latest government approval confirms that Chinnaswamy will remain central to RCB’s home schedule.
