China Urges Nuclear Restraint Amid Russia Claims

China has reiterated that nuclear weapons must not be used under any circumstances, calling for restraint amid renewed allegations by Russia involving Western nations and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The statement comes as tensions remain elevated over nuclear rhetoric linked to the war.

China Says Nuclear Weapons Must Not Be Used

At a regular press briefing, China’s Foreign Ministry emphasised that nuclear weapons should never be used and that nuclear wars must not be fought. Beijing reaffirmed its longstanding no-first-use policy and urged all parties involved in the Ukraine conflict to avoid actions or statements that could escalate tensions. China called for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to reduce risks and maintain global strategic stability.

Russia Alleges UK And France Nuclear Plot

Russian officials have alleged that the United Kingdom and France are considering transferring nuclear-related capabilities or supporting a potential “dirty bomb” scenario involving Ukraine. Moscow has presented these claims as part of its broader accusations against Western countries backing Kyiv in the conflict. However, no publicly verified evidence has been provided to substantiate these allegations.

Under international non-proliferation frameworks, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the transfer of nuclear weapons to non-nuclear states is prohibited. Ukraine is recognised internationally as a non-nuclear-weapon state.

UK, France And Ukraine Deny Claims

Officials in the United Kingdom and France have rejected the Russian allegations, describing them as unfounded. Ukrainian authorities have also maintained that they do not seek nuclear weapons and remain committed to their international obligations.

The exchange of statements reflects continuing nuclear-related tensions linked to the Ukraine war, with global attention focused on preventing further escalation.
