China to Showcase High-Tech Weapons in Victory Parade

China will hold a massive military parade in Beijing on September 3, 2025, to mark 80 years since Japan’s surrender in World War II. The “Victory Day” parade—only the second since 2015—will be staged at Tiananmen Square with international leaders expected to attend, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Xi Jinping will oversee the ceremony.

New Weapons on Public Display

Officials confirmed that the parade will include advanced systems being shown for the first time. These include hypersonic precision-strike missiles, anti-ship missiles, drone-defense platforms, electronic warfare tools, and autonomous ground vehicles. Aerial displays will feature fighter jets, bombers, and surveillance aircraft.

Large-Scale Participation

The 70-minute event will see 45 troop formations with tens of thousands of soldiers, supported by hundreds of armored vehicles and nearly 200 aircraft. Rehearsals in Beijing have already involved up to 40,000 participants under strict security measures.

Strategic Message to the World

Military analysts say the parade highlights China’s expanding capability to project power and deter adversaries, especially through anti-access and area-denial strategies. The show of strength has drawn concern from neighboring countries and Western nations, who view it as a signal of Beijing’s growing military ambition.
