Security forces in Chhattisgarh have intensified their crackdown on Maoist insurgents, neutralizing 30 Maoists in separate encounters in Bijapur and Kanker districts. The operations also resulted in the loss of one District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan.

Major Encounter in Bijapur

A joint team of security forces, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), launched an operation following intelligence inputs about Maoist activity. Around 7 AM, an intense encounter took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, leading to the killing of at least 26 Maoists. However, the operation also claimed the life of a DRG jawan.

Kanker Operation: Four Maoists Eliminated

In a separate incident, security forces, including Border Security Force (BSF) and DRG personnel, engaged with Maoists in Kanker district. The encounter led to the elimination of four Maoists, further weakening the insurgent network in the region.

Recovery of Arms and Ammunition

Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition from both encounter sites, highlighting the scale of the Maoist operations. These recoveries indicate the ongoing threat posed by the insurgents and the necessity of sustained counter-insurgency efforts.

Government’s Stance on Maoist Insurgency

Union Home Minister praised the security forces for their successful operations, reiterating the government’s firm stance against Maoist insurgency. Officials emphasized that these actions are crucial in achieving the goal of making India free from left-wing extremism.

Ongoing Operations and Future Strategy

Following these encounters, security forces have intensified search operations to eliminate any remaining Maoist presence in the affected regions. The government remains committed to tackling Maoist insurgency through both security measures and development initiatives aimed at addressing underlying issues. The latest actions mark a significant step in ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.
