Centre Blocks 300 Illegal Betting Platforms
The Centre has blocked 300 illegal gambling and betting websites and mobile applications in its latest enforcement action against unlawful online gaming activity. The crackdown covers multiple types of platforms, including sports betting sites, online casino services and betting exchanges operating through peer-to-peer models.

Officials said the blocked websites and apps were involved in illegal betting and gambling operations. These included online sports betting platforms, casino-style services offering games such as slots, roulette and live dealer tables, along with betting exchanges and other real-money gaming formats operating outside the legal framework. Action was also taken against satta and matka networks using digital platforms.
Online Gaming Act Drives New Crackdown
The latest move comes after the implementation of the Online Gaming Act, 2025, which has strengthened the government’s legal framework to act against unlawful real-money gaming platforms. The law prohibits online money games and also allows authorities to block access to offending platforms. The Centre has used these powers to widen enforcement in recent months as part of a larger campaign to tighten oversight of digital gaming activity.
Illegal Gambling Websites Face Wider Enforcement
With this latest round, the total number of illegal gambling and betting platforms blocked by the government has risen to around 8,400. A large share of these actions has reportedly come after the new law was passed. The crackdown reflects growing concern over unregulated betting networks, offshore gaming operators and digital platforms that continue to target Indian users despite restrictions.
The latest action signals that the government is continuing to intensify monitoring and blocking of platforms linked to illegal online gambling, while also expanding scrutiny of real-money gaming models that violate Indian rules.
