CDS Inaugurates National Conference on Defence Technology for Vision India 2047
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan virtually inaugurated the two-day National Conference on Technology Management (TECHMA 2024) on October 24, 2024.
The conference, themed ‘Technology Management in Defence Sector for Vision India @2047,’ was organized by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) at the Institute of Technology Management, Mussoorie. The event aims to align India’s defence technologies with the goal of becoming self-reliant by 2047.
In his address, General Chauhan emphasized the importance of collaboration between the defence industry, R&D organizations, and the Armed Services to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defence. He called for a mindset shift to embrace innovation and unique ideas that could benefit the Armed Forces and strengthen the nation, making India a ‘Sashakt, Surakshit & Viksit Bharat’ (Empowered, Secure & Developed India).
Focus on Vision India 2047
The conference began with a roundtable discussion on harnessing futuristic technologies and strengthening indigenous capabilities for Vision India 2047. Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, attended the event as Guest of Honor. TECHMA 2024 focuses on themes such as futuristic defence technologies, strategic vision for 2047, project management excellence in defence, and value engineering.
Shaping India’s Defence Future
Insights from TECHMA 2024 are expected to bolster India’s indigenous R&D ecosystem, identify new multidisciplinary research areas, and enhance project management processes. The conference aims to develop solutions for overcoming technical and logistical challenges in defence technologies, positioning India as a global leader by 2047.
