CBSE Offers Special Exam for Class 12 Hindi Amid Holi
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has confirmed that the Class 12 Hindi Core (302) and Hindi Elective (002) board examinations will proceed as scheduled on March 15, 2025. Despite concerns regarding Holi celebrations, which primarily fall on March 14 but may extend to March 15 in some regions, the board has decided to keep the exam schedule unchanged. However, CBSE has introduced provisions for students unable to appear on the scheduled date, ensuring they get another opportunity to take the exam later.
Exam Schedule Remains Unchanged
CBSE had announced the board examination schedule three months in advance to allow students sufficient time for preparation and to prevent clashes with major festivals or events. While the board acknowledges that Holi celebrations might pose challenges for some students, it has assured that those unable to appear for the exam due to the festival will not be disadvantaged.
Alternative Examination for Affected Students
Students who cannot attend the Hindi Core and Hindi Elective exams on March 15 due to Holi or other unavoidable circumstances will be permitted to take a special exam on an alternative date. This is in line with CBSE’s existing policy, which allows special exams for students engaged in national and international sports events. The board clarified that affected students will be accommodated along with others for whom special exams are scheduled.
Next Steps
CBSE is expected to release detailed guidelines regarding the process for students seeking the alternative examination date. Schools and students have been advised to stay updated through official notifications and coordinate with school authorities if they anticipate any challenges in appearing for the exam.
The Class 12 board examinations began on February 15 and will continue until April 4, 2025. Over 44 lakh students from across India and abroad are participating in the exams this year. By offering a special examination window, CBSE aims to ensure that students are not penalized due to regional festival schedules while maintaining the integrity of the board examination process.
