CBI-SIT Files Final Chargesheet in Tirumala Ghee Case

A Central Bureau of Investigation-led Special Investigation Team (CBI-SIT) has filed the final chargesheet in the Tirumala Srivari laddu ghee adulteration case before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The filing marks the completion of a probe that lasted about 15 months.

Accused named

The SIT has named 36 individuals as accused in the case, including directors of a private dairy firm and several suppliers allegedly involved in supplying adulterated or synthetic ghee used in the preparation of laddus at the Tirumala temple. The allegations include bypassing quality standards and submitting forged documents to secure contracts.

Scope of investigation

Investigators examined records and routes across multiple states to trace the supply chain. The probe found that the ghee was made with non-milk ingredients, including oils and additives, instead of pure ghee, and involved transactions worth an estimated ₹250 crore in goods supplied over several years.

Legal process ahead

As the case moves to trial, accused persons will face formal prosecution. Some remain in custody, while others may be granted bail as proceedings continue in court.
