Car Bomb Blast Near Islamabad Court Kills 12
A powerful car bomb exploded on Tuesday outside the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad’s G-11 sector, killing at least 12 people and injuring around 27 others. The blast is being treated as a suicide attack, according to Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
Blast Details
Authorities say the attacker attempted to enter the court premises but, after being stopped, detonated the explosives near a police vehicle outside the court gate. Many victims were civilians and court visitors. Several parked vehicles were destroyed and nearby buildings damaged.
Investigation & Response
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces have sealed the area, begun forensic investigations and reviewed CCTV footage. Pakistan’s government described the incident as a wake-up call, saying the country faces a serious threat. Heightened security has been ordered for courts and other high-risk centres in the capital.
