Car Blast Near Delhi’s Red Fort Kills One

A car exploded near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station Monday evening, triggering a fire that engulfed several surrounding vehicles and resulted in at least one confirmed fatality. The incident occurred in a densely populated area of the national capital, prompting a rapid emergency response.

Blast Details and Response

The blast took place at approximately 7 pm and involved a parked car. Following the explosion, fire officials reported that three to four other vehicles caught fire. Seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and the immediate area was cordoned off while investigations began. Security agencies issued a high alert across the city as emergency crews worked to secure and clear the site.

Investigation and Safety Concerns

Authorities are investigating both the cause of the explosion and whether it was accidental or a deliberate act. The fact that neighbouring vehicles were damaged and one person lost their life has raised serious concerns over public safety and surveillance around key monuments and transit hubs. Investigators will review CCTV footage, forensic evidence and witness statements to determine how the blast originated.
