Canadian MP Slams Trudeau Govt as Hindu Temple in Brampton Targeted
In a strong rebuke of recent violence targeting Hindu Canadians, Canadian Member of Parliament Kevin Vuong on Monday condemned the incident outside the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, accusing the government of failing to protect Hindus in the country.
The attack, allegedly involving pro-Khalistani elements, occurred near a consular camp organized by the Indian High Commission in collaboration with the temple.
Vuong took to social media, stating, “Our leaders are failing to safeguard Hindus in Canada as they have Christians and Jewish Canadians from violence.” He expressed concern that Canada has become a “safe harbour for radicals,” including Khalistani extremists and other violent groups.
Incident Sparks Diplomatic Concerns
The violence took place on Sunday outside the consular camp set up by the Indian High Commission. Following the incident, the Indian High Commission issued a statement condemning the “violent disruption” and expressing concerns over the safety of Indian nationals and Canadian Hindus. The High Commission called it “deeply disappointing” that such actions are permitted during routine consular events, adding, “We also remain very concerned for the safety of applicants, including Indian nationals.”
Trudeau Condemns Attack on Brampton Temple
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also denounced the attack, describing the violence as “unacceptable.” He reaffirmed Canadians’ right to practice their faith freely and safely, condemning actions that disrupt this freedom.
The incident has intensified scrutiny on the Trudeau government’s approach to handling extremist elements within Canada, especially concerning pro-Khalistan supporters. Critics, including MP Vuong, argue that the government’s stance has emboldened radicals, compromising the safety of Hindu Canadians.
