Canada PM To Visit India From February 26

By BPN News Desk February 24, 2026

Canada’s Prime Minister is set to visit India from February 26 in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and boosting cooperation across trade, investment and strategic sectors. The visit comes as both countries seek to stabilise ties and expand engagement after a period of diplomatic strain.

Canada PM India Visit From February 26

The Canadian Prime Minister’s visit is scheduled to begin on February 26, with meetings planned in New Delhi with senior Indian leadership. Officials indicated that discussions will focus on reviving momentum in trade negotiations and enhancing cooperation in technology, clean energy and supply chain resilience.

The visit is expected to include high-level talks covering economic partnerships and people-to-people ties, reflecting the importance of the Indian diaspora in Canada.

India Canada Trade And Strategic Ties

India and Canada share significant economic engagement, including trade in energy, agriculture and technology services. Both sides have previously explored the possibility of an Early Progress Trade Agreement, although negotiations were paused amid diplomatic tensions.

The upcoming visit is being viewed as an opportunity to reset dialogue and rebuild trust. Officials from both governments have signalled willingness to deepen economic collaboration and expand market access.

Diplomatic Engagement And Bilateral Cooperation

Beyond trade, discussions are likely to address education partnerships, investment flows and cooperation in emerging sectors such as renewable energy and critical minerals. Canada is a key supplier of potash and uranium to India, while Indian companies maintain investments across Canadian provinces.

The visit underscores efforts by both governments to move forward through dialogue and institutional engagement. Further details of agreements or joint statements are expected following the bilateral meetings.
