BYD Senior Executives Set To Visit India Soon
Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD will send senior executives—including its India Managing Director, Ketsu Zhang—to India in the coming months. The delegation aims to review operations and relaunch training programs following improved diplomatic ties between India and China.
Context Of Improved Relations
This planned visit follows a visible thaw in India–China relations after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping at the SCO summit. As part of the warming ties, India has started easing visa restrictions, particularly for Chinese business professionals, which will facilitate the visit.
Operational Focus
BYD has begun securing visas for senior managers and engineers to resume onsite training, equipment visits, and to assess its passenger vehicle plant in India. There are also plans to explore launching its budget-friendly Atto 2 electric SUV in the Indian market early next year.
Market Response
Shares of Olectra Greentech, an Indian electric vehicle player, rose roughly 2.9% following the news of BYD’s upcoming India engagement, signaling investor optimism over renewed market activity.
