Blackout Imposed in Gujarat’s Santalpur Border Villages as Precaution
Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, authorities in Gujarat have imposed a precautionary blackout in villages located along the border in the Santalpur taluka of Patan district. The decision was taken as a proactive security measure in response to the broader national alert triggered by cross-border hostilities and the Indian military’s ongoing Operation Sindoor.
“As a precautionary measure, a blackout has been imposed in the villages of bordering Santalpur taluka in Patan district. All the citizens are advised to stay away from rumours and follow the instructions issued by administration from time to time,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in a formal communication.
Santalpur Blackout Part of Wider Security Measures
The blackout involves the suspension of public lighting and advisories to households to minimize visibility from the air. These measures are designed to mitigate the risk of drone surveillance, aerial strikes, or missile targeting, which have emerged as key threats in the ongoing conflict. Similar precautions have been implemented across border districts in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan in recent days.
The Gujarat administration has stepped up coordination with central security agencies to monitor the situation along the international border. Surveillance has been intensified in the region, and movement near sensitive installations is being closely monitored by state police and paramilitary units.
Citizens Urged to Remain Calm
Authorities have also issued a strong advisory urging residents to avoid spreading or acting upon unverified information. Local officials are conducting awareness drives to ensure compliance with blackout protocols and promote public safety.
The state’s swift action reflects the growing seriousness with which Indian authorities are addressing potential threats along even the western and southwestern frontiers, far from the traditional flashpoints in Jammu and Kashmir. While no direct threat has been identified in Santalpur, the precaution underscores the possibility of expanded aerial activity and the need for preparedness across all border states.
As Operation Sindoor continues to neutralize terror infrastructure and cross-border aggression, the blackout in Gujarat’s Patan district is another reminder that the effects of the conflict are being felt far beyond the primary zone of engagement.
