BJP Names 3 Candidates For J&K Rajya Sabha
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named three candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for October 24. The party confirmed Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Rakesh Mahajan, and Sat Pal Sharma as its official nominees.
Four Seats, Three Candidates
The election is being held for four seats, but the BJP has so far fielded candidates for only three. The party is reportedly still holding internal consultations regarding the fourth seat.
Opposition’s Position
The National Conference has already announced three of its own candidates, while the remaining seat continues to be a point of negotiation. With the NC-Congress alliance holding majority support in the Assembly, BJP faces an uphill contest but aims to alter the vote dynamics.
Political Significance
By putting forward candidates despite limited numbers, BJP is seeking to strengthen its presence and visibility in J&K’s upper house elections. Campaigning is expected to intensify, with parties relying on cross-party strategies and alliance negotiations to secure the seats.
