BJP-JDU Pact Set for Swearing-in in Bihar
The Nitish Kumar-led coalition in Bihar is set to take oath on 20 November 2025 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where the 10th term of Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister will begin. The swearing-in event follows the decisive victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the November assembly elections. Sources say about 22 ministers are expected to be inducted alongside the Chief Minister, covering the partner parties in the coalition.
Ministerial Allocation and Caste Balance
According to internal party sources, the ministerial team will include **10 ministers from the Janata Dal (United) (JDU), nine from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and one each from the smaller allies Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP-RV), Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM-S) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM). The pact emphasises social representation, with both major parties seeking to strike a caste balance and accommodate regional strength while finalising portfolios.
Challenges Ahead and Government Focus
The incoming cabinet faces immediate pressure to translate electoral gains into governance. Key issues will include ensuring equitable development across regions, managing coalition dynamics and delivering on employment and welfare promises that were central to the NDA’s campaign. Political observers note that the ministry’s composition will signal whether the coalition prioritises continuity or a fresh face amid public expectations for renewal.
