Bird Strike Damages IndiGo Plane At Dehradun Airport

An IndiGo aircraft sustained damage after a bird strike while landing at Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport on Sunday evening. The Mumbai–Dehradun flight, IGO 5032, was hit on its nose section at around 6:45 pm. All 186 passengers and crew members were reported safe.

Inspection Finds Nose Damage

Airport authorities conducted an immediate inspection and confirmed that the aircraft’s nose cone had suffered minor structural damage. No bird remains or debris were found on the runway, and the aircraft was moved for a detailed technical examination.

DGCA Seeks Preventive Measures

This marks the second bird-strike incident at the airport in a month, prompting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to urge local bodies to improve bird-control measures. Officials have been asked to manage vegetation, waste sources and water bodies near the airport to reduce bird-activity risks.

Flight Operations Normal

IndiGo stated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and apologised for the inconvenience. Airport authorities said operations continued normally after necessary runway checks were completed.
