Bihar Temple Stampede Kills 8 In Nalanda

A stampede at the Sheetala Mata temple in Bihar’s Nalanda district killed at least eight women and injured six others on Tuesday morning after a sudden rush of devotees turned chaotic. The incident took place in the Maghra area of Bihar Sharif, where a large crowd had gathered for prayers on the last Tuesday of the Chaitra month.

The stampede broke out when panic spread through the packed temple premises and devotees began pushing through the crowd. Several people fell in the chaos and were trampled as others struggled to move out of the congested area. Emergency teams and local residents rushed to the spot to help the injured.

Sheetala Mata Temple Rush Turns Deadly

Witnesses said the crowd was larger than usual and that movement inside the temple area became difficult as more devotees kept arriving. Some local accounts suggested barricades may have failed during the rush, worsening the situation. The injured were taken to a government hospital in Bihar Sharif for treatment.

Bihar Government Responds After Temple Tragedy

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the incident as heartbreaking and said the state government was extending assistance to the affected families. He also said medical treatment was being arranged for those who were hurt in the incident. The tragedy occurred on a day of major religious activity in the region, adding to the size of the crowd at the temple.
