Biden Undergoes Radiation For Prostate Cancer

Former U.S. President Joe Biden is undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment for prostate cancer, his spokesperson confirmed on Saturday. Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones.

High-Grade Prostate Cancer

Doctors classified the disease with a Gleason score of 9, which marks it as a high-grade and aggressive tumor. Following the diagnosis, Biden began hormone therapy designed to block testosterone, slowing the cancer’s growth.

Radiation Therapy Phase

Biden has now entered a five-week course of radiation therapy. The treatment aims to target and destroy cancerous prostate cells, reducing tumor spread and easing symptoms caused by bone involvement.

Additional Medical Procedures

In September, Biden also underwent Mohs surgery to remove cancerous skin lesions from his forehead. While unrelated to the prostate condition, it highlights his ongoing medical care.

Prognosis And Outlook

Biden has said his prognosis is good, stressing that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which makes treatment more effective. Experts note that although bone-spread prostate cancer is serious, hormone responsiveness offers hope for managing the disease over the long term.
