Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Approved
Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Approved
Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mumbai are set to get a new overnight premium rail option after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw approved a Vande Bharat Sleeper service on the route. The approval was conveyed in an official communication to Bengaluru Central MP P.C. Mohan. Timings, fare, stoppages and launch date have not yet been announced by Indian Railways.
Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Route
The new service has been approved between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. The train is expected to improve overnight connectivity between two of India’s busiest business and technology hubs. It is also likely to offer a faster alternative to existing long-distance trains on the corridor, where current journeys often stretch beyond 20 hours depending on the service.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Features
The Bengaluru-Mumbai train will be part of the Vande Bharat Sleeper rollout, which is aimed at bringing faster overnight travel with upgraded comfort and safety features. Sleeper versions of Vande Bharat trains are designed for long-distance routes and are expected to include modern berths, improved interiors, automatic doors, better ride stability and upgraded passenger amenities compared with conventional long-distance trains.
Bengaluru Mumbai Travel Time Expectations
While the railway ministry has not released an official timetable, early reports suggest the new sleeper service could reduce travel time on the route. However, the final travel duration will depend on operational scheduling, track capacity and the number of intermediate halts. Until the timetable is published, any exact travel-time claim remains tentative.
Indian Railways Vande Bharat Expansion
The approval adds to Indian Railways’ wider push to expand the Vande Bharat network into overnight travel. The Bengaluru-Mumbai corridor is seen as a strong candidate because of high passenger demand from business travellers, students and intercity commuters. More operational details are expected once the railways finalise rake deployment and schedule planning.
