Bengaluru Cop And Friends Loot ₹7 Crore From ATM Van

A serving Bengaluru police constable and his associates allegedly orchestrated a ₹7.11 crore robbery from a cash-in-transit ATM van near Ashoka Pillar in Jayanagar. Police say the plan was in the works for nearly six months, with the group studying the van’s route, timing and standard procedures before executing the crime in broad daylight.

How The Robbery Was Executed

Investigators said the constable teamed up with a former employee of the cash-management company who had detailed knowledge of the van’s movements and security protocols. On the day of the robbery, the group reportedly posed as officials, intercepted the van, forced the staff into a vehicle and transferred the cash before fleeing. The abandoned getaway car was later traced near Tirupati.

Arrests And Recoveries So Far

Police have arrested three people, including the constable and the ex-employee, and recovered more than ₹5.76 crore from spots in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Multiple police teams across states are still tracking other suspects and verifying if more insiders were involved in the operation.

Security Concerns Raised

The incident has raised concerns about insider involvement in cash-transit operations. Authorities said the robbery exposes gaps in verification, route secrecy and surveillance measures. Cash-handling companies are expected to review their security protocols following the high-value heist.
