BCB-ICC Deadlock Continues Over T20 World Cup Venues
The Bangladesh Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council remain locked in a dispute over where Bangladesh will play its matches in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With the tournament approaching, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on venue arrangements.
Bangladesh’s Position
Bangladesh has reiterated its reluctance to play its scheduled matches in India, citing concerns over logistics and security. The board has asked that its fixtures be shifted to Sri Lanka, the tournament’s co-host, and has also explored alternative scheduling options to avoid playing in Indian venues.
ICC’s Stand
The ICC has maintained that the existing schedule was finalised after extensive planning and consultations. Officials have held multiple rounds of talks with the Bangladesh board and have described discussions as ongoing, but no compromise has been announced so far.
Impact on Tournament Planning
The impasse has added uncertainty to preparations for the global event, which is being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Organisers are under pressure to finalise venues soon to allow teams, broadcasters and fans to plan travel and logistics.
