Ayodhya’s Flag Hoisting Marks Temple’s Formal Completion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Dhwaj Arohan ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on 25 November 2025, marking the formal completion of the temple complex after its consecration in January 2024.

Saffron Flag Raised on Temple Spire

Modi hoisted a large saffron flag featuring symbols such as the Sun, Om, and the Kovidar tree. The flag was installed on a 42-foot pole on the main shikhara of the temple. The ritual took place during the Abhijit Muhurat, considered an auspicious period in Hindu tradition.

Top Leaders Attend the Ceremony

The ceremony saw participation from several key leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state’s Governor, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Thousands of invitees were present, and strict security arrangements were implemented across Ayodhya for the event.

Modi Calls It a Civilisational Milestone

During the event, Modi described the ceremony as a milestone symbolising the fulfilment of a centuries-long aspiration of devotees. He said the Dhwaj Arohan reflects the cultural and spiritual resurgence of India.

Temple Trust Declares Completion

According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the flag hoisting signifies the formal completion of the temple structure, nearly two years after its pran pratishtha ceremony on 22 January 2024.
