Ayodhya Bans Non-Veg Food Delivery Near Ram Temple
The Ayodhya administration has imposed a ban on the delivery of non-vegetarian food within a 15-kilometre radius of the Ram temple, citing the need to maintain the religious sanctity of the area. The restriction applies to restaurants, hotels, homestays and online food delivery platforms operating in the designated zone.
Officials said the decision was taken after reports that non-vegetarian food was being delivered close to the temple premises despite existing norms. The area covered by the ban includes the Panchkosi Parikrama zone, which holds religious significance for devotees visiting Ayodhya.
Scope of the Restriction
Under the order, food outlets are not permitted to serve or deliver non-vegetarian items within the restricted radius. Vendors and accommodation providers have also been instructed to ensure compliance with the directive. Authorities said the move is aimed at preserving the spiritual environment as the city witnesses a steady flow of pilgrims.
Monitoring and Enforcement
The district administration said enforcement teams will monitor compliance and take action against violators. While specific penalties were not detailed, officials warned that strict measures would be taken to ensure adherence to the order.
The ban is expected to impact food businesses and delivery services operating near the temple, as authorities prioritise religious norms around the site.
