Axar Patel Takes Responsibility For DC Defeat
Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has accepted responsibility after his team suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026, leaving DC under pressure after three straight losses.

Delhi Capitals were bowled out for just 75 in 16.3 overs after a disastrous start against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. DC lost six wickets for only nine runs inside the first four overs, leaving the team unable to recover.
RCB chased down the target comfortably, reaching 77 for one in 6.3 overs. The result pushed Delhi Capitals down to seventh place in the IPL 2026 points table and made their playoff path more difficult.
Axar Patel Accepts Captaincy Responsibility
Speaking after the match, Axar Patel said captaincy comes with responsibility not only towards players but also towards the support staff and owners. He said the team had two choices after such a defeat: blame individuals or stay together and prepare for the next challenge.
Axar said Delhi Capitals would fight together and focus on what remained in their control. He also indicated that the team was unlikely to make too many changes despite the heavy defeat.

Axar suggested that Delhi’s previous match against Punjab Kings may still have been playing on the players’ minds. DC had failed to defend a huge 265-run target in that game, and the captain said such a result can create hesitation.
He said IPL pressure exists in every match, but players must move forward, stay mentally stable and focus on their process. Delhi Capitals will now need a quick turnaround to keep their playoff hopes alive.
