India Condemns Canada’s Ban on Free Press
India expressed surprise at Canada’s decision, with the Ministry of External Affairs calling the move hypocritical toward free speech principles. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted, “It looks strange to us…these actions highlight the hypocrisy of Canada towards freedom of speech.” The ministry also condemned Canada’s alleged surveillance of Indian diplomats, which was another key point in Jaishankar’s remarks.
