Australian Government Denounces Anti-Indian Migration Rallies
The Australian government has condemned recent rallies in several cities that opposed Indian immigration. Officials described the protests as far-right activism rooted in racism and divisive politics. Emergency Management Minister Tony Burke and Multicultural Affairs Minister Anne Aly said such movements have “no place in modern Australia” and warned they threaten social unity.
Nationwide Protests Trigger Backlash
The demonstrations, called the “March for Australia,” were staged in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. Organised by nationalist groups, the rallies protested mass migration, with Indian migrants being singled out. The marches also sparked counter-protests, highlighting growing concern about anti-immigrant rhetoric in the country.
Threat to Social Cohesion
Government leaders reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to multiculturalism. Minister Anne Aly stated, “We stand with all Australians, no matter where they were born,” while Tony Burke stressed that undermining social harmony was fundamentally un-Australian. Officials pledged to protect migrant communities from targeted hate and ensure inclusivity remains central to national policy.
