Australia Announces Full-Strength Squad for WTC Final

Australia has officially announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against South Africa, set to take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London starting June 11. With the return of several senior players, the squad reflects a strong and balanced unit aiming to retain their WTC title.

Key Players Return to Strengthen Lineup

Captain Pat Cummins returns to lead the side after recovering from an ankle injury and completing paternity leave. He is joined by fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who makes his comeback after resolving a hip issue, and all-rounder Cameron Green, who was previously sidelined due to a back stress fracture. Green’s recent form has been noteworthy, including a century in county cricket, bolstering confidence in his readiness.

Chief selector George Bailey confirmed the strategic importance of their return and praised the depth of the squad. The trio’s inclusion is expected to add crucial experience and balance to Australia’s pace-heavy bowling unit and middle-order stability.

Emerging Talent and Strategic Selections

The squad also includes rising star Sam Konstas, a 19-year-old opener who could be a wildcard selection depending on the final team combination. His selection signals Australia’s intent to groom future top-order options. There has also been speculation around reshuffling the batting order, possibly moving Marnus Labuschagne to the opening role if needed.

Beau Webster retains his place after a promising debut, while Josh Inglis, who recently scored his maiden Test century, strengthens the middle-order options and adds flexibility with his wicketkeeping skills. He will serve as backup to Alex Carey.
