Asif Ali Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Pakistan’s middle-order batter Asif Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket, calling it “the greatest honour” to represent his country. In a social media post, he thanked fans, teammates, coaches, and his family for their constant support through highs and lows of his career.

Record in White-Ball Formats

Asif Ali, 33, made his international debut in 2018. He went on to play 21 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 58 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), scoring a total of 959 runs across both formats. Known for his big-hitting ability, he maintained strike rates of 121.65 in ODIs and 133.87 in T20Is, cementing his reputation as a reliable finisher.

Unforgettable Moments

One of Asif’s most memorable knocks came in the 2021 T20 World Cup against Afghanistan, where he smashed four sixes in the penultimate over to lead Pakistan to a thrilling victory. He also played an important role in the 2022 Asia Cup final, producing a timely cameo that contributed to Pakistan’s competitive chase. His power-hitting often made him the team’s go-to player in pressure situations.
